Christopher Pierre Janson (born April 2, 1986) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born in Perryville, Missouri, to Pierre Janson and Carrie Lee (Bowling) Janson. He has written singles for Tim McGraw among others. Janson has also recorded two full-length albums, Buy Me a Boat and Everybody, through Warner Bros. Records Nashville. The first album's title track was a Top 5 hit on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, and No. 1 on the country music charts published by Mediabase, in late 2015.

Musical career

Janson was born April 2, 1986, in Perryville, Missouri. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after finishing high school.[2] Janson is a 3-time CMA nominee, platinum-selling, high-octane entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, award-winning singer/songwriter, and the youngest living member of the Grand Ole Opry.

He co-wrote Tim McGraw's 2012 single "Truck Yeah,"[3] and wrote the title track to Justin Moore's 2013 album Off the Beaten Path. Janson has also had additional songs recorded by Hank Williams, Jr., Tim McGraw, Randy Houser, Joe Nichols, Parmalee, Frankie Ballard, Tyler Farr, Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell, JB and the Moonshine Band, and LoCash.

Janson self-released the single "Buy Me a Boat" in early 2015. The song debuted at No. 33 on Hot Country Songs after it received airplay on the Bobby Bones Show.[2][4] It was officially released as a single via Warner Bros. Records Nashville in May 2015,[5] and became Janson's first Number 1 on Mediabase.[6]. Also in 2015, Janson co-wrote LoCash's "I Love This Life."[7] Also in 2016, Janson co-wrote Randy Houser's "Song Number 7."

Janson's second album for Warner Bros., Everybody, was released in September 2017. Its lead single is "Fix a Drink"which went to Number 1 on Mediabase in November 2017 [8]is the chart-topping follow up to his No. 1 debut smash and summer anthem, “Buy Me A Boat. His current single, “Drunk Girl,” is climbing the country airplay charts and won “Song of the Year” at the MusicRow awards. In October of 2018, it's top 10 on Mediabase and Billboard.

Janson is nominated for 3 CMA awards (2018), including Best New Artist, as well as Song of the Year and Video of the year for “Drunk Girl,” a song written from a father’s perspective which is receiving a lot of praise from his fans.[9]

On February 6, 2018, during his first, sold out headlining show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, country star Keith Urban invited Janson to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.

On March 20, 2018, Garth Brooks, Opry member since 1990, inducted Janson into the Grand Ole Opry making him the youngest Opry member. [10]

Janson closed out the 53rd ACM Awards with what Rolling Stone called a “must-see performance,” and he floored his audience at Stagecoach.

Nashville Gab wrote that "He is explosive on stage and completely unpredictable. I compare his live set to a wild horse, it's not meant to be tamed. He brings a blue-collar, redneck edge to every show that seems to be lacking in country music these days. Chris Janson is the future of country music..."[11]

Personal life

Chris Janson is married to Kelly Lynn.[1] They have four children, two of whom are from Lynn's previous marriage .[12]
