Donald Duck: The Complete Daily Newspaper Comics is a series of hardcover books collecting the complete run of Donald Duck daily newspaper comic strips drawn by the american comic artist Al Taliaferro. A Disney comic strip that debuted on the February 7, 1938, and within eight weeks it had become the fastest growing syndicated comic strip worldwide. The publisher behind the project is IDW Publishing and their imprint (subdivision), The Library of American Comics. The first book of the series was released in September, 2015.[1][2]

Format

The books are of the hardcover type have a sewn binding and linen bookmark and comes with a dust jacket. The books measure 11 inches × 8.5 inches, approximately 279 mm × 216 mm, and are oriented in a landscape view to be able to fit each comic strip in such a large scale and so close to the size they originally were published in as possible, given the set surface area. Each page accommodate three daily strips.

The print is in full color throughout the book, however only the supplementary material appear in full color since the comic strips are printed in black-and-white, just as they were when first published in the newspapers. The strips are scanned from the original syndicate proofs of the Disney archives.[3] Each volume of the series have about 280 pages and contain close to 750 daily strips (the equivalent to a 2.5-year original newspaper run) as well as around ten pages of purely supplementary material like promotional art, portraits of the creators and introductions.

Volumes of the series are sold separately[4] and have been released at a rate of one to two volumes a year[5] at a suggested retail price set by the publisher at $39.99.
