Dolly Joseph Abu Shahine (Arabic: دوللي جوزيف أبو شاهين, Lebanese pronunciation: [ˈdol.li ʃaˈhiːn]); born July 2, 1980) is a Lebanese former singer, actress, and fashion designer. She officially retired from the entertainment industry in 2016.[2]
Biography
Dolly Shahine was born to a Catholic family in Aley District, to a Brazilian mother and a Lebanese father.[3] Dolly Shahine was named after the American country singer Dolly Parton.[4]
Personal life
Dolly Shahine married a Lebanese businessman Sami Qalib in 2001, the officially divorced in 2009. In late 2009 Shahine married Lebanese director Bakhos Alwan.[5] They have a daughter called Noor. Shahine announced in 2014, that she and Alwani were getting a divorce and the couple had officially separated due to Irreconcilable differences. However, they both declared they were still on good terms.[6] Despite being famously known for her daring outfits and femme fatale persona, she announced in a Facebook post in early 2016, that she would be officially retiring from the entertainment industry to dedicate herself to Jesus Christ and focus spending more time with her family and daughter. And that any singing she would be doing in future would be spiritual christian music.[7] Although, there has been speculation in the Arab media the validity of her statements, since she did not cancel any of her upcoming work commitments and had been seen still participating in media related events, after her post.[8] Coverted to Islam in August 2017.[9]
