Nasir Pemberton professionally known as Digital Nas, is an American recording artist, record producer and entrepreneur from Atlanta, Georgia. He initially began producing music for the underground artists and rose to prominence for his work on Lil Yachty’s debut mixtape, Lil Boat. Since then, he has produced numerous singles for other artists as well as releasing his own debut ep, "DN" Ep. In 2016, Digital Nas created his own record label, III Records. As of 2018, he is also in a joint venture label deal with Warner Bros. Records.

Early life

Nasir Pemberton was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Getting involved with music early as a kid throughout high school, he discovered his desire to create create music. As he continued to hone his production skills, he produced beats for artists involved in the underground music scene of Atlanta. With his quick rise to internet fame, such as Soundcloud, Twitter, & Instagram; Digital Nas expanded working with many other artists such as Playboi Carti, Lil Yachty, Lil Wop, and many others. Aside from music, Digital Nas is a heavily involved skateboarder,[1] and it is still one of his favorite hobbies today.

Career

Digital Nas’ career took off shortly after a mutual friend introduced him to Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty while he was still in college. The pair has been close friends and collaborators ever since. Digital Nas is now widely known for his collaborations Lil Yachty in which he gained his first wave of success producing the record “Lil Boat” during the summer of 2015.[2] The single was one of the first records to obtain notoriety after a solid cosign from fashion taste maker Ian Connor.[3] In March 2016, “Up Next 2” earned Nas his first major label placement on Lil Yachty’s debut mixtape Lil Boat. This mixtape charted on the Hot 200 and peaked at #113, being Digital Nas’ first ever Billboard placement.[4] Consequently, his work on the mixtape earned him a more serious reputation in the hip hop world. Digital Nas went on produce numerous breakout hits with acts such as Levi Carter, Keith Ape, and PNB Rock. He continued his success by breaking many more artists using the Soundcloud platform.

In September 2016, he released a collaborative EP, Lost Files, with Lil Yachty. It gained nationwide attention after being picked up by major blogs such as Complex, HotNewHipHop, MTV, XXL, Fader, Daily Loud & many others.[5][6][7][8] Subsequently, Nas produced his second major label single with international Korean superstar Keith Ape, entitled “Let Us Prey”, which has gone viral since its release. Digital Nas has yet to release an official project, but has released his EP, entitled DN, in late 2016.

The Atlanta producer has cited several prominent artists as influencing his musical style, including Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani. Additionally, his soft spot for Shoegaze music and punk rock bands, such as his favorite band My Bloody Valentine, are sources of inspiration for his own music.

Motivated to his desire to release his own music, he established his own independent label, Label III Records, LLC, in January 2016. Soon after signing himself, he added Duwap Kaine, Seppe, and FJ Crui$er to the label’s artist roster.[9] As of 2018, his newest entrepreneurial endeavor is residing as chief executive officer of III Records which is a joint venture with Warner Bros. Records.
