Dhivya Suryadevara is the first female Chief Financial Officer of General Motors. She was named by Fortune Magazine among the 40 of the most influential and inspiring young people. [1][2][3][4][5]

Early Life

Suryadevara was born to Telugu parents and brought up in Chennai, India. She lost her father at a young age and was brought up along with her two sisters by her mother. [6]

Education

She studied in St John's Senior Secondary School in Mandaveli,Chennai. She later earned a degree from the Ethiraj College for Women in commerce and went on to pursue Chartered Accountancy at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She is also a chartered financial analyst, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.[7]

Career

Suryadevara started her career with an internship in 2002 at the World Bank.[4] She went on to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving to investment banking at UBS.[7] She joined General Motors in 2002. In 2013, she was appointed the CEO and chief investment officer of GM Asset Management. In 2015, she accepted a role as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. In 2017, she became Vice President of Corporate Finance at General Motors. [4][7]

She was named in the list of Forbes ‘40 Under 40’ in 2015.
