Dipika Kakkar also known by her married name Dipika Kakkar Ibrahim (born 6 August 1986),[2][3] is an Indian television actress.[4] She is known for playing the role of Simar Prem Bharadwaj in Sasural Simar Ka.[5] She was a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 8. In 2017, she was participating in Nach Baliye 8 along with her present husband Shoaib Ibrahim.[6] She played a extended cameo role opposite Abhinav Kohli and Nirbhay Wadhwa in Star Plus Television Series Qayamat Ki Raat.[7] She is presently a contestant on the reality TV show Bigg Boss on Colors.[8] She appeared in the JP Dutta’s film Paltan making her entry in Bollywood in 2018.

Early Life

Kakkar was born on 6 August 1986 in Pune to an army officer and mother Renu Kakkar. She completed her school level from CBSE board and completed graduation degree from the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. After completed study she started working as an Air Hostess with Jet Airways for almost 3 years but due to some health issues, she left the job and joined the entertainment industry.[9]

Career

Kakkar started her acting career on TV with the role of Lakshmi in the mythological show Neer Bhare Tere Naina Devi,[10] After that, she appeared in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo as Rekha.[11][12]

In 2011, she appeared in the lead role of Simar Prem Bharadwaj in Sasural Simar Ka.[13] Dipika quit the show in 2017. She was a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8. In 2017, she was also a participant in the eighth season of dance based reality show Nach Baliye. She also appeared on the reality show Entertainment Ki Raat on Colors TV.[14]

In 2018, Kakkar played the role of Suhasini in Ekta Kapoor's Qayamat Ki Raat in a cameo opposite Karishma Tanna and Vivek Dahiya.[15][16] Dipika is a celebrity contestant in the twelfth season of the Indian version of the reality TV show Big Brother, Bigg Boss.[17][18]

Kakkar made her film debut with J. P. Dutta's war film Paltan.[19]

Personal Life

She started dating Shoaib Ibrahim, her co-star from Sasural Simar Ka since 2015 and later married him on 22 February 2018 after converting to Islam and taking the name Faiza [20]
