Dayamir Union

Dayamir Union (Bengali: দয়ামীর ইউনিয়ন, Sylheti: ꠖꠄꠀꠝꠤꠞ ꠁꠃꠘꠤꠅꠘ) is a union council under Osmani Nagar Upazila of Sylhet District, Bangladesh. It is the native home of General M. A. G. Osmani, who was the supreme commander of the Bangladesh Liberation War. In 2015 Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Zulhash Uddin was the first British Bangladeshi from the Dayamir Union to be elected councillor for Tunbridge Wells Borough and Southborough Town Council, UK. Uddin later on 23 May 2017 was elected as Deputy Mayor of Southborough Town Council, UK.[1] He's the first mayor from the ethnic minority heritage.[2]
