David G. Lawson[1] (born October 29, 1946 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Delaware Senate since January 11, 2011 representing District 15.[2]

Military Service

Dave enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1969 in Delaware.

Law Enforcement Service

Lawson began his career in law enforcement with the Milford Police Department in Delaware in 1969 where he worked as a policeman until transferring to the Delaware State Police in 1973. He retired in 1992 and served as a Delaware State Police Range Instructor and as the Lieutenant of the Special Operations Response Team.

Education

Lawson attended Glendale Community College, the Delaware State Police Academy, and Delaware Technical Community College.

Elections

  • 2016 Lawson was unopposed for the September 13, 2016 Republican Primary and won the unopposed November 8, 2016 General Election with 15,036 votes (100%). [3]
  • 2012 Lawson was unopposed for the September 11, 2012 Republican Primary and won the three-way November 6, 2012 General election with 9,547 votes (50.6%) against Democratic nominee Kathleen Cooke and Independent candidate Catherine Samardza.[4]
  • 2010 Challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Nancy W. Cook, Lawson was unopposed for the September 17, 2010 Republican Primary and won the November 2, 2010 General election with 8,370 votes (52.3%) against Cook.[5]
