The novel garnered positive reviews by readers and critics, achieved success, and is considered one of the most significant Topčić's works. The Czech translation (Dagmar, For Prague, Prague) was published in 2017 and was ranked first on the list of bestsellers in the Czech Republic.

The story is based on e-mails of Dagmar Veškrnova-Havlova, wife of former Czech President Václav Havel, and Bosnian writer dr. Oscar Feraget. Dagmar is considered a continuation of Topčić's novel Final Word, although it also functions as an independent novel.
