Credo High School is a tuition-free, private charter school in Rohnert Park, California, inspired by Waldorf education and serving students in ninth through twelfth grades[1]. There are around 350 students for the 2017-2018 school year; the school has been expanding annually since it was established in 2011.[2] Credo High School was founded in 2011 by Chip Romer and Thomas Schaefer.[3] The school was originally located on Southwest Blvd. in Rohnert Park, California, but recently relocated to Sonoma Mountain Village, a community on the outskirts of Rohnert Park that is dedicated to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and creating a more sustainable world.[4] Today, Credo High School is the only "One Planet" school in the world. The school is financially supported by Awakening Entelechy, a nonprofit created expressly for the purpose of supporting the school.[5]

Campus

Credo High School is located at 1300 Valley House Drive, Suite 100 in Rohnert Park, California 94928.[6] The campus has around 30 classrooms, along with administrative and recreational space.

Curriculum and Classes

Credo High, being a Waldorf-inspired college-prep high school, features a rich and varied curriculum including excellent music and fine arts classes, in addition to the standard English, Math, and Science trio. A significant feature of Credo High is the Biomimicry Class, which may be the only course of its kind taught to United States high school students. The classes are rigorous, and students are held to high academic standards.

Credo has an eight-period day, with Thursdays only having six periods. The school offers four music classes, and over the four years, more than 20 art classes, including blacksmithing and blind woodturning.

Credo uses the block system, where students study one subject intensively for four weeks. Through this, every student takes physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science each year and is able to build a deep comprehension of the subjects by graduation. All types of history are also included as morning blocks, as well as ongoing track classes.

Sports

Credo High School offers many sports for students, including basketball, baseball, and soccer, and is a member of the NCS CIF sports league, NCL II. The NCL II league involves other small schools in the surrounding counties. Credo also offers clubs sports such as volleyball and golf.

Students

Notable students at Credo High include alumni Siobhan O'Reilly, who stands out due to her involvement in a restorative justice program.[7] Below is a table illustrating the growth of the school.[8]
