Costume Designers Guild

The Costume Designers Guild (CDG) was founded in 1953 by a group of 30 motion picture costume designers. Its international membership today includes over 750 motion picture, television, and commercial costume designers, assistant costume designers and costume illustrators. In 1976, the Costume Designers Guild joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), becoming Local 892 of IATSE.[1] Local 892 is centered in Los Angeles. The Costume Designers Guild publishes a quarterly magazine, The Costume Designer, founded in 2005, and a CDG Newsletter six times a year. The Costume Designers Guild produces its annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, recognizing excellence in costume design in motion pictures, television, and commercials.

Costume Designers Guild Awards

Founded in 1999, the Costume Designers Awards honors Costume Designers in Motion Pictures, Television, and Commercials annually. The "Gilda" statuette was originally manufactured in sterling silver by renowned Greek jeweler Bvlgari and was created by costume designer, and CDG member, David Le Vey. Title sponsors of this glamorous Los Angeles evening are Lacoste and Disaronno. Each year costume designers are honored in a number of categories for their work in motion pictures and television. In addition, a distinguished costume designer is selected to receive a Career Achievement Award. Actors, directors or producers are also honored with a Spotlight Award and Distinguished Collaborator Award.
