Corneliani is an Italian menswear manufacturer best known for its suits and sportcoats. Corneliani stands out as an international player thanks to its values of tradition and quality. The manufactorial excellence combined with the brand’s modernity, makes Corneliani the reference point for elegant high-end menswear worldwide. The company’s headquarters and operations centre are in Mantua but offices are also open in Milan, Shanghai and New York.The company’s Mantua plant remains however the nexus for design, research and production for the clothes and accessories, which have made Corneliani fashion synonymous with the finest Italian-made goods and a byword for style.

Corneliani has a global presence in 90 single-brand boutiques, corners and multi-brand stores in the most exclusive luxury shopping districts as well as the world’s leading malls. The company distributes its products in over 70 countries. In June 2016, the Investment group Investcorp acquired a majority stake in Corneliani for an enterprise value of about $100 million with the objective to continue and further accelerate the international development of the brand. [1] Its revenue in 2017 was €110 million.

History

The family-owned firm stretches back to the 1930s when Alfredo Corneliani, set up a craft business making raincoats and coats, which was then put on hold due to the outbreak of Second World War. Alfredo's sons Claudio and Carlalberto later set up Corneliani S.p.A. in Mantua in 1958. In 1985 the company set up Corneliani USA Inc. in New York to distribute its ranges throughout the US and Canada. In 1997 Corneliani opened its flagship store in Via Montenapoleone, in Milan. In 2008 Corneliani opened a mono-brand boutique on London’s New Bond Street. In 2012 Corneliani Shanghai Ltd was founded.

Corneliani is worldwide famous for its "chest-piece" jacket (giacca con pettorina), an iconic garment launched in 2005 and sold in all the Corneliani stores as a carryover model.

Awards and honors

In 1991 Carlalberto Corneliani, Group President, was awarded the Cavaliere del Lavoro honour for captains of industry by the President of Italy.[2]

In 2005, the company received the Leonardo Quality Award from the President of Italy for its contribution to promoting Italian-made goods worldwide through its commitment and creativity.

In 2015, Corneliani joined the Altagamma foundation, which has united the foremost companies in Italy’s cultural and creative industry since 1992.
