The Committee for the Liberation of Ceuta and Melilla (CLCM) was an irredentist organization of Moroccan origin that had as its objective what, according to them, is the "recovery of the Moroccan cities of Ceuta and Melilla". His organization was based on the irrendentist ideology of Greater Morocco.

History

The Committee was formed with members who defended this ideology and want to carry it out as soon as possible through quick actions and media impact. Among his most famous actions were the robbery of the arm of the statue of Pedro de Estopiñán[2] or the assault on the Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera.[3]

Most of the actions were carried out at the border between Spain and Morocco in Melilla, where the members of the committee assaulted several Spanish police. Both his leader and several activists of the organization were fined by the Moroccan authorities for these incidents.

Several members of the organization belonged to the Moroccan Liberal Party (MLP).

Dissolution

The committee was dissolved on 16 June 2014, according to its members, due to the lack of support from the population. Its leader accused the Moroccan government of hypocrisy and asked Spain for forgiveness for their actions.[4]
