Columbia College Hollywood is a private, nonprofit liberal arts college located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. The college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)[1] to offer Bachelor of Fine Arts and Associate of Fine Arts degree programs in Cinema and Cinema-Television with an emphasis on acting, cinematography, directing, editing & visual effects, new media, producing, sound or writing.
In 2014, the college began to pursue acquisition of what was then known as Tribeca Flashpoint College[2]. The merger went into effect in February 2018,[3] and Tribeca Flashpoint College became Flashpoint Chicago, a Campus of Columbia College Hollywood.
Facilities
Columbia College Hollywood campus facilities include a 5,000 square foot Learning Resource Center that provides students with individual and collaborative study space, a 72-seat, 5.1 channel surround sound theater for screenings, classes, and events, an intimate 35-seat 7.1 surround sound screening room, a sound stage, a 3-camera HD television stage with a green screen and control room, a Foley/ADR suite with a sound isolated booth and control room, post production editing suites, standing sets, an acting studio, a writer’s room, traditional classrooms, and an equipment room stocked with industry standard film, video, and sound equipment.
The current 85,000 square foot Los Angeles campus is located in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley with access to the entertainment industry and all major Hollywood film and television studios. In 2016, William Smith assumed the Columbia College Hollywood presidency. His tenure has been marked by recent improvements to campus facilities, technology, and educational programs as part of the strategic growth plan developed by the Board of Trustees under the leadership of board chairman Dr. William G. Durden.
Admissions
Columbia College Hollywood has an open admissions policy.[4] It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability in admissions and/or all other institutional policies.
