China City of America

China City of America was a China-themed construction project originally planned for the town of Thompson, Sullivan County, in the Catskill Mountains region of the U.S. state of New York, attracting thousands of wealthy Chinese immigrants through the federal U.S to invest in the United States. EB-5 immigrant investor program, grants permanent residency to foreign investors in exchange for job-creating investments in the United States. Sherry Li of Oyster Bay, Long Island is the chief executive officer[1] and founder of China City of America.[2]

The project has had a history of problems, including CEO Sherry Li . Li donated $50,000 to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's re-election campaign at the same time. The Town of Thompson supervisor also became frustrated with Li's constantly shifting plans and ultimately the Town of Thompson declined to OK the project.

"Each dynasty will have its building and will have rides go with it," Li said at a town council meeting in May where she pitched the original plan.

China City’s website features golden dragons, and projects an initial investment of $325 million — with $10 million going to a "Temple of Heaven," $24 million on a hotel and entertainment complex, and $20 million to construct a 'Forbidden City.'"[2]
