The Central American snapping turtle (Chelydra rossignonii )[1] is a species of turtle in the family Chelydridae.[1] This species was previously considered a subspecies of Chelydra serpentina.[2]

Etymology

The specific name, rossignonii, is in honor of French-born coffee grower Jules Rossignon.[4]

Geographic range

C. rossignonii is found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.[1]

Subspecies

There are no recognized subspecies of C. rossignonii.[1][2]
