The School of Art + Art History + Design is an undergraduate and graduate school in the Arts Division of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington. Formally known as the University of Washington School of Art, the institution is divided into three major departments, with the design department composed of Visual Communication Design, Industrial Design, and Interaction Design. Each department offers both BA and BFA degrees for undergraduate students, with graduate programs for each discipline. Currently the only Ph.D. program offered is in the Division of Art History.[4] It is ranked by the US News and World Report as one of the best in the United States for graduate schools in fine arts.[5]
Facilities
The college is housed in the Art Building at the north end of "The Quad" adjacent to the Music Building. The school provides numerous facilities for students, faculty and staff including the Art Library, School of Art Computer Center (SOACC), Ceramic and Metal Arts Building (CMA), Digital Portfolio Studio, 3D Design Lab, Parnassus café, and the Jacob Lawrence Gallery.[6]
