Carnival Horizon is a cruise ship built for Carnival Cruise Line, a division of Carnival Corporation & plc. She is the second of Carnival's Vista-class ships, and was delivered by her builder, Fincantieri, on March 28 2018.[6][7]

History

The ship has a tonnage of 133,500 GT and a capacity of 3,916 guests.[8]

Like her class leader, Carnival Vista, which entered service in May 2016, Carnival Horizon features SkyRide, an IMAX Theatre, a Water Works aqua park, and Carnival’s Seuss at Sea programme. She also has some unique new attractions such as Bonsai Teppanyaki and Guy Fieri's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse | Brewhouse. Fieri's Smokehouse appears on two Carnival ships, Vista and Horizon. However, the Horizon Smokehouse is the first restaurant at sea to have a full-on smoker.[9]

Recently, the company announced it would offer four craft beers brewed exclusively at Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse | Brewhouse on Carnival Horizon: ParchedPig Smoked Porter, ParchedPig Farmhouse Ale, ParchedPig Toasted Amber Ale, and ParchedPig West Coast IPA.[10]

Horizon has also added new retail options, including the first-ever Victoria's Secret on a Carnival ship and new brand partnerships with companies like the Le Vian jewelry line.[11] The ship also features Dr. Seuss's Water Works, which is a first for the company.[12]

Carnival Horizon offers three new Playlist Productions shows: Soulbound, Celestial Strings, and Vintage Pop. The fourth show, Amor Cubano: A Caribbean Dance Romance, has already been performed on Carnival Vista.[13]

American musician and actress, Queen Latifah, serves as the godmother to the ship.[14]

The ship was delivered on 28 March 2018.[15][16]

Itinerary

Carnival Horizon performed a series of cruises from Europe before coming to the United States. She operated Summer Cruises to the Caribbean and Bermuda from New York City before the move to Miami in September 2018, where she offers year-round cruises to the Caribbean, replacing Carnival Vista. Carnival Vista repositioned to Galveston, Texas.[17]

Carnival Horizon offers six-night sailings from Miami to the Western Caribbean and eight-night sailings to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.[18]
