Buslink is a bus operator providing services in Alice Springs, Darwin, Jabiru and Humpty Doo. It is the largest operator in the Northern Territory. It also operates bus services in other Australian states and territories.

History

Buslink was formed in May 1988 when Darwin operator Ace Bus Service purchased the business of Matilda Tours from Ansett Trailways and merged both operations under the Buslink brand with a fleet of 25 buses.[2]

In 1990 Buslink began operating services from Casuarina to Darwin and Palmerston previously provided by Darwin Bus Service.[3] In July 1992 Buslink took over the Alice Springs services previously provided by Alice Bus Company.[4][5]

In 1994 the Katherine school services of Travel North were purchased with six buses.[6] In July 2007 Shuker Bus Service was purchased.

Buslink also operate school bus services in Queensland under the Buslink Queensland brand[7][8] and hold a 50% shareholding in Buslink Vivo.[9][10][11]

In February 2017 Buslink took over Murton's City Bus of Broken Hill, after acquiring it in November 2016.[12][13]

Operations

Buslink can be split into the following operations:[1]

Northern Territory

Buslink operates in Northern Territory as Buslink Northern Territory or Buslink Vivo. Buslink Northern Territory operates half of Darwin's services under the Darwinbus brand[14] as well as services in Alice Springs under the ASBus banner.[15] It also operates buses in Jabiru.

Buslink also operates employee bus services in Darwin as a joint venture with Transdev called Buslink Vivo.

Queensland

Buslink operates in Gladstone and Sunshine Coast as Buslink Queensland.

New South Wales

Buslink operates in Broken Hill as Buslink Broken Hill, taking over Murton's City Bus since February 2017.

NSW/Victoria border (Sunraysia region)

Buslink operates in Mildura and Wentworth as Buslink Sunraysia. It operates as a partnership with Transit South West, an operator in Victoria.[16] The bus operation was previously known as Sunraysia Bus Lines.

Fleet

As at January 2018 the fleet consisted of 583 buses.[1][17] Fleet livery is white with blue signwriting.
