Bulgaria chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in a national final on 11 March. The TV viewers had 10 minutes to vote by phone calls and SMS for the song to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2006 . They chose the song Let Me Cry performed by Mariana Popova. The song was written by Elina Gavrilova and composed by Dani Milev. The song is only the country's second entry, after they débuted at the contest last year.

Bulgaria placed 17th in the semi-final with 36 points, and did not qualify for the final.

At Eurovision

Because Bulgaria failed to qualify in 2005 Mariana was forced to compete in the Eurovision semi-final,She came 17th with 36 points failing to qualify to the Grand Final.Therefore, Bulgaria will have to compete in the semi-final again in ESC 2007.
