Biography

Beemer received his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton in 1992.[3] He completed his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1995.[3]

Career

Beemer served as a deputy district attorney of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, from 1996 until 2010.[3]

He first entered the Attorney General's office in 2011 as Linda L. Kelly's chief of staff. Kathleen Kane retained Beemer as a staff chief when Kane was elected to the office of Attorney General. Beemer was subsequently promoted to First Deputy Attorney General. In July 2016, Governor Tom Wolf appointed Beemer to the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General[4] to replace Kathleen Kane, who was convicted on felony charges and subsequently resigned. Beemer was unanimously confirmed by the State Senate and took office on August 31. Beemer's term expired in January 2017, and was succeeded by fellow Democrat Josh Shapiro.
