Breather is a flexible workspace provider based in Montreal, Canada. The company runs and operates spaces in 10 cities across North America and Europe.[1] The Next Web referred to it as the "Uber for private workspaces."[2]

History

Breather was founded by Caterina Rizzi and Julien Smith, the company's CEO.[3] The idea came from Smith when he traveled and found himself working in various coffee shops.[4] Smith is author of three books and often traveled for public speaking events.[3] He founded the company as a way to let people find a quiet space.[4]

Breather had a soft launch in Montreal before expanding to New York City.[2] As of November 2016, Breather is available in 10 cities, adding the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., London, Toronto, and Ottawa to the original two.[5]

As of June 2018 the company has raised a cumulative $122.5 million in funding.[6]
