Blaya, stage name of Karla Rodrigues (born May 27, 1987 in Fortaleza, Brazil) is a Portuguese singer and dancer.[1]

Career

She started singing in 2001 but her professional career only began in 2008 after she did a casting for stage dancer of Buraka Som Sistema. The partnership with the band lasted until 2016, after the group announced it's hiatus for undetermined time.[1]

Since then, Blaya focused on giving dance classes and later on returned to singing.

In 2018, she releases her first single "Faz Gostoso" which was a huge success on Portugal hiting the first place on the portuguese charts and more than 20 millions views on Youtube.[2]

Personal life

Even though Blaya was born in Brazil, she came to live in Portugal with only two months old.[3]

In 2012 she publicly announces her bisexuality.[4]

In July 2017 she gives birth to her first daughter, called Aura Electra Rodrigues Russo.[5]
