Black Summer (TV series)

Black Summer is a planned spin-off of the TV show Z Nation and will air on Netflix. It plans to emphasize the horror elements more than the horror/comedy hybrid parent show.[1] The show will star Jamie King and focus on the "Black Summer," the worst time period of the zombie apocalypse. [2]

Plot

When a mother is torn from her daughter, the mom embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her child . Along with a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse [3]

Production

Filming for the series began in August 2018 in Alberta, Canada, in Calgary and the smaller communities of Beiseker and Cochrane.[4] Z Nation creator Karl Schaefer and producer John Hyams will also serve as showrunners. The series will not be episodic. [5]
