The Battle of Taipale was fought between Soviet and Finnish forces during the Winter War, 6–27 December 1939. After the Finnish Army's delaying battles against the Soviet Union from 30 November to 5 December, the Finnish forces had formed a main line of defense by 6 December at the Burnaya River. The Finns managed to hold their defensive position at the eastern end of the Mannerheim Line, close to the shore of Lake Ladoga, until the end of the war on 13 March 1940.[1]
