Barbara Linhares Ferreira (born December 14, 1996) is an American model and actress.[2][3][4] She has earned attention and acclaim for her career as well as for being an outspoken supporter of the body positivity movement.[5][6][7][8][9][10]

Early life

Ferreira was born in Queens, New York, but later moved to Maywood, New Jersey[11] and attended Hackensack High School.[10][12][13][14][15] She was raised by her Brazilian mother and grandmother.[16] Her mother works as a Chef.[17]

Career

Modeling

Ferriera jumpstarted her career on her own by sending in pictures to American Apparel.[18] She modeled for the brand while simultaneously working in one of their retail stores.[13] She has since modeled for acclaimed brands such as Aerie, Adidas, Asos, Forever 21[19], H&M, Missguided and Target, among others. [20][21][22][23][24] Unretouched photos and a video interview from Ferriera's Aerie campaign went viral in 2016.[5][6][7][8][12] Later that year, Time (magazine) named her among their "30 Most Influential Teens."

Other editorial appearances have included Idol, Vogue.com, Teen Vogue, Oyster (Cover), French Grazia (Cover) and  Nylon (Cover).

Directing

Ferriera directed music video "So Cool" by artist Dounia.[25][26][27]

Acting

Ferriera starred in the 10-episode Vice series "How to Behave," focused on etiquette. The show explored themes such as sex, money, and body image. The series also earned her recognition from the Webby Awards[28] for “Best Web Personality/Host.”

She also starred in a web series for Teen Vogue called “Body Party” where she guided the audience through the various facets of her own mantra of body positivity.[29]

In addition, Ferriera starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church as “Ella” in two episodes of HBO's series “Divorce”. Ferriera will continue her relationship with HBO as “Kat” in their upcoming series “Euphoria” with Zendaya.[30]
