Balitanghali is a Philippine television newscast show broadcast by GMA News TV. Balitanghali is produced by GMA Network's News and Public Affairs division. It is anchored by Connie Sison and Raffy Tima on Weekdays. and Mariz Umali and Jun Veneracion on Weekends. It is airing internationally on GMA Life TV.
Background
The newscast was first aired on GMA's sister network, QTV, on November 11, 2005 during the network's initial broadcast, which airs on a Monday-Saturday basis. On February 7, 2010, the newscast now also airs on Sundays, which resulted to the launch of the weekend edition.
Balitanghali was also simulcasted on radio through GMA Network's flagship station DZBB. In May 2008, the simulcast was only limited to weekends to give way for the launch of the radio station's noontime newscast, Super Balita sa Tanghali Nationwide.
After Q ceased airing on February 27, 2011, the newscast was carried over on its replacement network, GMA News TV on February 28, 2011. The newscast had moved out of their initial studio at GMA Network Center and had introduced a new studio set at GMA Network Studio 2, title card, graphics, and OBB. On April 25, 2011, Grace Lee was named as the new host for the Star Bites segment for weekdays.
On May 23, 2011, the weekday edition of Balitanghali was expanded to 90 minutes, starting at 11:30AM–1:00PM.
On 2012, Luane Dy replaced Grace Lee when Lee moved to TV5.
On November 10, 2014, as part of GMA News shakeup, Connie Sison replaced Pia Arcangel. Arcangel replaced Vicky Morales on Saksi. Along with 24 Oras and Saksi, the graphics was updated in flat, also their title cards, and the OBB. Luane Dy left Balitanghali in 2017, when she becomes part of Eat Bulaga!, which airs simultaneously and live with same timeslot of Balitanghali.
On April 16, 2018, the newscast features a new studio along with the new graphics using Gill Sans typeface, title card and OBB.
