Azhagiya Tamil Magal (Tamil: அழகிய தமிழ் மகள்) is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language television soap opera starring Sathya Sai, Puvi, Subalakshmi and Anju Aravind. It is a remake of the Telugu language television series Mutyala Muggu which airs on Zee Telugu from 2016. The series marks Puvi Arasu's first small screen lead role since 2014. It is currently airing on Zee Tamil every Monday to Friday from 28 August 2017 at 19:00 (IST).[1][2]
The story of village girl Poongkodi a kabaddi game player and the game will change her life and take her to Chennai to a fund= er education and pursue further studies.
Synopsis
The show showcases the story of Poongkodi (Sheela Raj Kumar) a kabaddi and Bharatnatyam enthusiast who dreams of excelling in the field of sports and pursue further studies. However, the bitter past of Poonkodi's mother holds Poonkodi back from going all out in a big way.
Poongkodi's teacher and her grandfather push her to participate in a kabaddi game that will change her life and take her to Chennai to fund education and pursue higher studies. She is pulled down by her rival Deepika (Subalakshmi Rangan) whom she later comes to know is her half sister. Poongkodi goes through various tiffs. Meanwhile, there is a love triangle between Deepika, Jeeva (Puvi Arasu) and Poongkodi. How will her life change after this truth is revealed and how it affects the entire family forms the crux of the story.

Casting
This is a village romance love story, that airs on Zee Tamil. New actress Sheela Rajkumar was selected to portray the lead role of Poongkodi. Lakshmi Vanthachu and Dancing Khilladies winner Puvi Arasu landed in the lead role as Jeeva opposite, Sheela in the show. Both Puvi Arasu and Subalakshmi Rangan play the lead role for the first time and Subulakshmi Rangan known for her work on Ganga was selected to co-star as Deepika.
