Assumption University (AU, Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยอัสสัมชัญ) is a private Catholic university with three campuses in different locations- Huamak near Rajamangala National Stadium, Central World Plaza in downtown Bangkok, and Suvarnabhumi areas of Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. The university is led by the Brothers of St. Gabriel foundation, which have been active in education in Thailand since 1901.

History

Assumption University is a non-profit institution administered by the Brothers of St. Gabriel, a worldwide Catholic religious order, founded in France in 1705 by St. Louis Marie De Montfort, devoted to education and philanthropic activities. The congregation has been operating many educational institutions in Thailand since 1901.

Assumption University became an autonomous educational institution in 1969 when Assumption Commercial College (ACC) turned into Assumption School of Business. In 1972, it became the Assumption Business Administration College (ABAC). In 1990 the ABAC was granted university status by the Ministry of University Affairs and took the name of Assumption University (AU).[1]

The university has a student body of about 19,870 including a fairly large number of foreign students drawn from more than 75 countries of the world.[2]
