In a village which is located in a beautiful hilly area full of greenery and water bodies, there lives a villager called Gopi (N. T. Rama Rao) along with his sister Janaki (Vijaya Lalitha) by rearing goats. He leads a happy life, singing and playing the flute. Once Radha (Vanisri), a famous stage artist and singer comes to his village on a break. There, she becomes interested in Gopi by listening to his flute and music. They spend time together and Radha gradually becomes fascinated by him. Before she starts back, Gopi finally proposes to her and she gladly accepts. Radha asks Gopi to come for the city so that everyone can enjoy his music and he can also earn money. Gopi says that music is God's gift and doesn’t want to sell it. So, Radha decides to come and stay with him in the village. After that Radha returns to the city, where she works in the company owned by Sudhakar (Jaggayya), who wants to marry her. But Radha informs Sudhakar about her marriage and retirement, which leaves him devastated. Meanwhile, Gopi fixes an alliance for his sister Janaki, but it gets canceled due to a dowry problem. Then Gopi determines to earn money, hence he starts for the city with his sister. With the help of Radha, he becomes a big star, earns a lot and performs Janaki’s marriage. Now Gopi and Radha also want to get married, Radha's father Dasaradha Ramayya (Gummadi) also agrees to it. But Sudhakar who has lust for Radha plans a trick to interrupt the marriage. He makes an accident to kill Gopi, but he survives, but is not able to speak due to a head injury. Radha takes care of him and wants to marry him as soon as he gets better. Sudhakar further plans to separate them, he kills Dasaradha Ramayya and puts the blame on Gopi. Seeing Gopi standing with a knife even Radha believes that he killed her father due to mental instability. Radha requests Sudhakar not to hand over Gopi to the Police. Here Sudhakar puts a condition to marry him and she agrees. Radha sends Gopi to his sister's house, but he leaves that place too. He starts working as a construction worker where his boss listens to him playing the flute and invites him to play on the radio. But Sudhakar plans to remove Gopi from the picture and sends goons to kill him. Gopi escapes and succeeds to find his voice again. He hands over Sudhakar to Police and Radha also comes to know the truth. Finally, Gopi and Radha reunite and move back to the village.
