Andrew Wotman (born October 20, 1990), known professionally as Andrew Watt, or just Watt, is an American musician, guitarist, singer and songwriter. Watt is best known for his multiple collaborations with musicians across different genres.

Career

Watt grew up in Great Neck, New York.[1] As a teenager and while studying at NYU, Watt started gigging around the New York City area.[4] His first professional gigs came with occasionally playing the guitar with The Roots during their Highline Ballroom Jam sessions.[5] At the beginning of his career, he was also a guitar player for Jared Evan, Cody Simpson, Justin Bieber and other acts.

In 2013, Watt was a founding member and guitarist of the rock band, California Breed, alongside Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and Jason Bonham (Foreigner, Led Zeppelin).[6] In 2015, John Varvatos Records offered Watt a record deal after John Varvatos, a California Breed fan, heard Watt’s solo music.[7][8] The same year, Watt recorded and released his first major label EP, Ghost In My Head..[9] Red Hot Chili PeppersChad Smith and Queens of the Stone Age’s Joey Castillo played drums on the record, while Watt played all the other instruments himself.[10]

Watt opened for Jane’s Addiction in October 2015.[10] He also opened The Cult’s Los Angeles show in February 2016.[11] In February 2016, Rolling Stone praised Watt's vocal performance of "L.A. Woman" on stage with Robby Krieger during The Doors tribute to Ray Manzarek.[12]

Watt is also a producer and music director, and frequently collaborates with other musicians.[7] Since 2015, Watt often works with songwriters Brian Lee and Ali Tamposi.[13]

Watt is also known for working with rapper Post Malone, both producing his songs and touring with him as a guitarist.
