Anan (阿南市 Anan-shi) is a city in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on May 1, 1958.
As of 2016, the city has an estimated population of 72,447 and a population density of 260 inhabitants per square kilometre (670/sq mi). The total area is 279.39 km2 (107.87 sq mi).
On March 20, 2006, the towns of Hanoura and Nakagawa (both from Naka District) were merged into Anan.
Nichia, a global LED and electronic materials manufacturer has its headquarters in the city.[1] Also in the city is the static inverter plant of Kii Channel HVDC system.
