The warehouses were owned by the American Tobacco Company until 1919, when they were purchased by the Lorillard Tobacco Company. More recently, they have been converted into apartments and called the 'Tobacco Lofts'. The site was added to the State and the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.[3]
