Alex Pall is an American DJ, musician, singer, songwriter and record producer, best known for performing in The Chainsmokers with Andrew Taggart.[1][2]
Early life and education
He was born in Westchester, New York and grew up in Bedford. His father was an art dealer and his mother was a stay-at-home mom.[3] Pall has said that he suffered from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as a child.[4] He attended Masters School and then New York University, studying art history and business.[5] He is of Jewish and English descent.[6]
Music
Pall initially worked at an art gallery, Metro Pictures, while DJing at night at New York City clubs and parties. He founded The Chainsmokers in 2009 with a friend.[3] In 2012, after the first iteration of 'The Chainsmokers' significant commercial notoriety amongst the Chelsea art scene,[7] his friend quit the group and Pall asked his manager, Adam Alpert, to help him find a new partner.[8] Alpert introduced him to Taggart and the duo began producing electro-pop remixes of indie music tracks, before producing original music.[9][10] In 2014, The Chainsmokers released their breakthrough single #Selfie as a joke on social media.[5] The group went on to have commercial success with the single Roses in 2015 and Don't Let Me Down and Closer in 2016, which both went #1.[11]
The Chainsmokers released their debut album titled Memories...Do Not Open in April 2017, which held the first position on the Billboard 200 chart and achieved platinum certification.[12] That same year, the group was named to Forbes' World's Highest-Paid DJs list.[13]
Since the group's inception, it has released 22 singles and EPs, and 1 album.[14]
Pall appears in a tour docu-series called The Chainsmokers - Memories produced by Apple Music.[15]

Personal life
Pall lives in Los Angeles, California[16][17] with his dog, Mooshu.[18][19] In September 2017, he was criticized for a comment about not wanting to bring his dog on tour in China by individuals suggesting he was joking that the Chinese eat dogs.[20] Pall later clarified that his remarks were based on reports about dogs being slaughtered in Chinese provinces.[21] Pall also named his dog "Mushu".[22]
In January 2018, Pall and his longtime girlfriend, Tori Woodward, ended their relationship. Shortly thereafter, Woodward publicly accused him of infidelity, citing video evidence.[23][24]
