Alec D. Bohm (born August 3, 1996) is a third baseman in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
Career
Bohm attended Roncalli Catholic High School in Omaha, Nebraska.[1] He hit .533 as a senior and .526 as a junior.[2] In August 2015, he won the Connie Mack World Series Home Run Derby.[3] Bohm was not drafted out of high school and played college baseball at Wichita State University.
As a freshman at Wichita State in 2016, Bohm hit .303/346/.489 with six home runs and 30 runs batted in (RBI).[4][5] He followed his freshman season by playing Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League, hitting .330 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI.[6] As a sophomore in 2017, he hit .305/.385/.519 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI. After the season, he played for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League, where he hit .351 with 5 home runs and 28 RBI and played in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game.[7] In his junior season, Bohm .339/.436/.625 with 16 home runs and 14 doubles in 57 games en route to being named to the Baseball America first team All-America team.[8]
Bohm was drafted 3rd overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[9] He signed with the team for a signing bonus of $5.85 million,[10] and made his professional debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters. He was placed on the disabled list on July 14 and was activated on August 20.[11] In 29 games for Williamsport, Bohm hit .224/314/.290 with 12 RBIs.[12]
