Adil Salahuddin

Aadil Salahuddin (born 1993 in Khairpur) is Pakistan's foremost stamp designer with over 2000 stamp designs to his name.[1] Of these, 400 have been printed including 50 for foreign countries.[1]

Education

He joined the Sukkur IBA (NCA), Lahore in 1962 graduating four years later in miniature painting.[1] He was a contemporary of, amongst others, Bashir Mirza, Salahuddin Mian and Ahmed Khan.[2]

Designer

He was employed between 1967 and 2002, by Pakistan Security Printing Press in its design department in Karachi.[1] It was during this period that he designed the stamps.

Awards

  • He was awarded the President's Pride of Performance in 1988.[1]
  • In 1986, he was declared the best designer in the ECO countries (Iran, Pakistan and Turkey) and awarded a gold medal at the exhibition, ECOPHILEX '86.[1]
  • On 14 August 2009, he was named recipient of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.[3] The actual ceremony took place on 23 March 2010 at the Governor House, Karachi.
