Abbas Obeid Jassim (Arabic: عباس عبيد جاسم‎), born on December 10, 1973 in Baghdad, Iraq, is an Iraqi football player. He played for Anyang LG Cheetahs and Pohang Steelers of the South Korean K League. He also was selected 28 times for the Iraq national football team where he scored 7 goals. Abbas was a football analyst on Dubai-sports TV channel during the 2007 Asian Cup and was remembered for breaking down in tears on a live broadcast after the Iraqi victory in the final of the tournament.

Abbas Obiad stormed on to the international scene in the Merdeka Independence Anniversary Tournament in 1995 in Kuala Lumpur scoring on his Olympic debut in a 2-2 draw against South Korea U-23, he repeated the feat two days later in his second game against the hosts, beating three players and placing the ball past the keeper in a 2-1 win, his performances grabbed the attention of the coach of South Korean club Anyang LG Cheetahs and after only three games for Iraq's Olympic team, he and defender Sadiq Saadoun (who also scored against the South Koreans) joined Anyang LG Cheetahs for £80,000 at the end of 1995, in the first football transaction between the two countries.

His performances in his first season earned him a move to Pohang Steelers in July 1997. In 1998 he scored the controversial penalty in a penalty shoot-out win over Dalian of China which helped Steelers became Asian Club Champions. Abbas starred at the 2000 Asian Cup in Lebanon where his performances earned him a place in the Asian XI voted by the AFC.[1]

His younger brother is Haidar Obeid Jassim and he was also part of the Iraq national team.
