Ramakrishna Rao.[4] It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Savitri in the lead roles,[5] with music composed by K. V. Mahadevan.[6] The film is a remake of the Tamil movie Padikkadha Medhai (1960).[7][8]

Plot

Rao Bahadur Chandrasekharam (S. V. Ranga Rao) is a successful businessman and has a loving family with compassionate wife, Parvathi (Kannamba), 3 sons; Prasad, Sridhar and Raghu (Vallam Narasimha Rao, Edida Nageswara Rao, Padmanabham), 2 daughters, the widowed Mangalamba (Suryakantham) and Geetha (Girija), 2 daughters-in-law Lalitha, Kamala (Meenakumari, Mohana), and their children. Along with them, they adopt an orphan Ranga (N. T. Rama Rao), an innocent guy who is utterly devoted to the family. Parvathi promises her childhood friend (Prabhavathi) that she will take her daughter Lakshmi (Savitri) to her third son Raghu, but he refuses to marry her because he is already in love with Janaki (Sarada). To Keep up Parvathi's word, Ranga marries Lakshmi. Everything goes happily, Geetha gets a rich alliance with Madhu (Haranath), son of Rajarao (A. V. Subbarao Jr.). But suddenly, life takes a U-turn, where Chandrasekharam was bankrupted, Geetha’s marriage is called off; from there onward, his family members' attitudes completely change and they start seeing Rao Bahadur in a low profile. Ranga could not tolerate this and reacts to them, so, they put the blame of theft on him. Seeing this, Chandrasekharam has no choice to ask Ranga and Lakshmi leave their house. Afterward, Chandrasekharam dies a broken-hearted man leaving his wife and youngest daughter to be in their children's merciless care. Rangadu, with the help of Kotaiah (Relangi) finds a job in a factory owned by Rajarao, whose son is to have married Geetha. Finally, Ranga, with his simplicity and pure-hardheartedness, proves in the end that love and affection is the greatest wealth.
