Aapta Mitrulu (English: Close Friends) is a 1963 Telugu drama film, produced and directed by Kadaru Nagabhushanam under the Sri Raja Rajeswari Film Company banner.[3][4] It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari and Kanta Rao in the lead roles,[5] with music composed by Ghantasala.[6][7]
Plot
Prakash (N. T. Rama Rao) and Shekar (Kanta Rao) are childhood friends. Shekar belongs to a rich family and he gives a job to Prakash in his company. Prakash lives along with his mother Shantamma (Rushyendramani) and sister Vimala (Krishna Kumari), who loves Shekar. But Shekar’s mother Kamalamma (Kannamba), wants her son to get a rich alliance. Once Shekar sends Prakash to Bangalore on an official trip where he gets acquaintanted with Kokila (Rajasulochana), daughter of a millionaire, Kameswara Rao (Relangi) and both fall in love. Kamalamma comes to know about Kokila; when she talks with Kameswara Rao, he replies that he is helpless because his daughter is already in love with Prakash. From that time, Kamalamma has a grudge against Prakash and develops animosity in Shekar against him. Meanwhile, in a business deal, Shekar quarrels with a broker, unfortunately, the broker dies at the hands of Shekar; at the same time, Prakash arrives and takes the blame on himself, because Shekar gives an assurance that he will marry Vimala. Prakash is sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. After that, Prakash’s mother dies out of depression and Shekar marries Vimala secretly, but his mindset is cruel, he cheats and leaves Vimala after getting her pregnant. Vimala tries to commit suicide, but she was saved by an old man, Ramayya (Perumallu) and she gives birth to a baby boy, but Shekar thinks that she is dead.
Time passes, Prakash is released from jail, when he goes to meet Shekar he narrates a false story that Vimala has eloped with someone. Desperate, Prakash leaves from there. Vimala makes her livelihood by giving music lessons. Dhanakoti (Mikkilineni), a rich man whose daughter learns music from Vimala, tries to molest her, where Prakash comes to her rescue; there he comes to know the truth and real shade of Shekar. At the same time, Shekar again asks Kokila to marry him, when she refuses, he tries to kill her, Prakash saves her. Knowing that Vimala and the child are alive, he orders his henchmen to kidnap them and they do so, Prakash protects them and when he tries to kill Shekar, Vimala obstructs his way, where Shekar realizes his mistake. Kamalamma also comes to know the truth, she says sorry to Prakash and accepts Vimala as her daughter-in-law. Finally, the movie ends with the marriage of Prakash and Kokila and Shekar surrendering himself to Police.
