The 61st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 10, 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.[1][2]
The ceremony recognizes the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, which ran from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018. [3] Recordings which are eligible must be submitted to the Recording Academy during the summer of 2018. Nominations will be announced on December 5, 2018.[2]
Dolly Parton will be honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year.[4]
Category changes
For the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, multiple category changes are being made;[5]
- In the General Field (which comprises the awards for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist), the number of nominees in each category will be increased from five to eight.
- In the category of Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, music supervisors will now be eligible.
- The award for Best Surround Sound Album is being renamed Best Immersive Audio Album.
