520 Park Avenue is a skyscraper under construction on East 60th Street and Park Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City.[1] It was designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects.[2] The building will cost US$450 million to build.[3] The tower will be completed by 2018.[3][4]
The building is being developed by developers Arthur and William Lie Zeckendorf of Zeckendorf Development.[5][6][7]
Design
Like much of Stern's work, the building is New Classical in style. The exterior of the building is clad in limestone, similar to 15 Central Park West. The building is shorter than Stern's two other Manhattan skyscrapers, 30 Park Place and 220 Central Park South. The developer, Arthur Zeckendorf has described the building as the East Side sister of 15 Central Park West.[8]
Residences
The building has 34 apartments on its 62 stories - at the top is a $130million triplex penthouse.[4][9] Prices begin at over $20 Million Dollars for a 4600 square foot apartment, and residences close to the top will have balconies.[10][11]
Amenities
The building will include an outside garden, private movie theatre, a children's playroom, a swimming pool, wine cellars and a bi-level fitness center. The building offers "over 15,000 square feet of amenity space, perhaps the highest ratio of amenity-to-unit space of any building in the city."[12][13][4][10]
Notable residents
Residents who have purchased apartments include: Billionaire Frank Fertitta, a former owner of UFC; James Dyson, the billionaire founder of Dyson; Public Relations mogul Ronn Torossian; and Bob Diamond, former CEO of Barclays.[9][4][14]
