- June – SpaceX founder and entrepreneur Elon Musk plans to send the first BFR spaceship to Mars, paving the way to colonization.[3][4]
- November 21 – December 18 – The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be held in Qatar.[5], to avoid the summer heat between May and September and also avoid clashing with the 2022 Winter Olympics in February.
