The 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft will take place in June 2019. The draft will assign amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order will be set based on the reverse order of the 2018 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks will be distributed for players who did not sign from the 2018 MLB Draft and for teams who lose qualifying free agents.[1] The first day of the draft will be broadcast by MLB Network from their studios in Secaucus, New Jersey. The remaining two days of the draft will be streamed on MLB.com.

With the worst record in the 2018 MLB season, the Baltimore Orioles will receive the first overall pick.[2] The Atlanta Braves will receive the ninth overall pick as compensation for failing to sign Carter Stewart.[3] The Arizona Diamondbacks will receive the 26th overall pick as compensation for failing to sign Matt McLain.[4] The Los Angeles Dodgers will receive the 31st overall pick as compensation for not signing J. T. Ginn.[5] The Pittsburgh Pirates will receive the 37th overall pick for failing to sign Gunnar Hoglund.[6]
