Glory 50: Chicago

Glory 50: Chicago was a kickboxing event held by Glory on February 16, 2018, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, USA.

Background

This event featured a trilogy fight for the Glory Welterweight Championship between the champion Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian as headliner.

This event also featured a 4-Man Heavyweight Contender Tournament to earn a shot for a Glory Championship.

The GLORY 50 SuperFight Series co-headline bout was originally scheduled to be a rematch between heavyweights Cătălin Moroșanu and Giannis Stoforidis. An injury to Moroșanu has forced him from the card and both fighters will be rebooked at a later date.

Anthony McDonald has been pulled from his fight against Haze Wilson due to high blood pressure.

Due to a cut suffered in the semi-finals Guto will be unable to fight in the finals. Junior Tafa will step in to face Benny Adegbuyi.

The GLORY 52 co-main event bout was originally scheduled to be a rematch between Lightweights Marat Grigorian and Stoyan Koprivlenski. Grigorian had to withdraw due to a neck injury, Koprivlenski will takes on Josh Jauncey.

Robert Thomas suffered a concussion during training and has been forced to withdraw from Glory Middleweight Contender Tournament. Following this shake-up, the remaining three middleweight tournament contenders have been rebooked.

Following a successful light heavyweight debut at GLORY 56 Denver, Chris “The Capo” Camozzi (1-1, 1 KO, fighting out of the United States) cracked the division’s top 10, securing the No. 9 ranking. At GLORY 61 SuperFight Series, the UFC veteran will attempt to climb even higher when he locks horns with the No. 5-ranked light heavyweight Myron "Light Skin Dynamite" Dennis (21-7, 10 KO, fighting out of the United States).

In a super bantamweight showcase, recently-signed 24-year-old prospect Chommanee Sor Taehiran (91-17-1, fighting out of Thailand) takes on experienced Muay Thai practitioner Ashley“AK-47” Nichols (12-5, fighting out of Canada), who also competes in MMA under the Invicta FC banner.

Lightweight Justin "J-Ho" Houghton (10-6, 3 KO, fighting out of the United States) just submitted the most impressive performance of his career, a unanimous decision over Troy Sheridan in August.
