The Football NSW 2018 season is the sixth season of football in New South Wales under the banner of the National Premier Leagues. The competition consists of four divisions across the state of New South Wales.[1] The Premiers of the NPL NSW Men's 1 qualify for the national finals, where they will play off against other premiers from the 7 other states playing in the competition, to decide the champion of the 2018 National Premier Leagues, the winner of which will receive a spot in the 2019 FFA Cup.

Football NSW announced changes to the structure of the NPL for the 2019 season including a reduction in the number of clubs across the four tiers from 52 down to 48. As a result the promotion and relegation for season 2018 will be altered in comparison to previous seasons to accommodate these changes. Further to this, 2018 will be the final season whereby the club championship system will be used as youth results will be de-coupled from senior results to determine promotion/relegation.[2]

2018 Waratah Cup

Football NSW soccer clubs competed in 2018 for the Waratah Cup. The tournament doubled as the NSW qualifier for the 2018 FFA Cup, with the top five clubs progressing to the Round of 32. A record 169 clubs entered the qualifying phase[3], with the clubs entering in a staggered format (with NPL and NPL 2 clubs seeded to a later round).

The Cup was won by APIA Leichhardt Tigers.

In addition to the three A-League clubs (Central Coast Mariners, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers), the five qualifiers (APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Hakoah Sydney City East, Marconi Stallions and Rockdale City Suns) competed in the final rounds of the 2018 FFA Cup.
