Summary

The 2017 season started with a 22 game unbeaten run,[3] however a number of less favourable results mid-season (and the departure of league top-scorer Seán Maguire to the UK and international duty)[4][3] pushed City's "inevitable" championship win until later in the season.[5] Cork City were named 2017 League of Ireland Premier Division champions on 17 October 2017 - with several games in hand.[3][6] The club completed its first league and cup 'double', by winning the 2017 FAI Cup Final a few weeks later on 5 November 2017.[7]
