The 2017 Alabama State Hornets football team represented Alabama State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Hornets were led by third head coach Brian Jenkins for the first 5 games of the season until he was fired. Donald Hill-Eley was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the seaosn. They played their home games at the New ASU Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama as members of the East Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 5–6, 4–3 in SWAC play to finish in second place in the East Division.
