The 2016–17 Denver Nuggets season was the 41st season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Thanks to the continuing improvements of Nikola Jokić, the Nuggets would make significant improvements to their team, although they would be just one game shy from reaching the NBA playoffs that year. They lost that playoff spot to the Portland Trail Blazers, who made a trade to help improve their team by getting rid of center Jusuf Nurkić and acquiring Mason Plumlee in the process.
