The 2003 Appalachian State Mountaineers football team represented Appalachian State University in the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Mountaineers competed in NCAA Division I-AA as a member of the Southern Conference. The team celebrated its 74th season of play and were led by Jerry Moore in his 15th season as head coach. Home games were played at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina.[1] The team finished second in the Southern Conference at a 6–2 record (7–4 overall).[2] The team finished the season with a 26–18 victory over archrival Western Carolina in the Battle for the Old Mountain Jug.
