1999 is the debut studio album by French electronic music duo Cassius, released on 25 January 1999 by Virgin Records.
Writing and recording
The album was written and produced by Cassius members Phillippe Zdar and Boom Bass.
Release
1999 was released on 25 January 1999 by record label Virgin. It reached number 28 in the UK Albums Chart.[1]
Three singles were released from the album: "Cassius 1999", which reached number 7 in the UK Singles Chart[1] and hit the top 10 in the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart; "Feeling for You", which reached number 16 in the UK[1] and also charted in the top 10 in the US; and "La Mouche", which reached number 53 in the UK.[1]
As of September 2006 the album has shipped 260,000 units worldwide according to their label. [2]

John Bush of AllMusic qualified the album as "A sleek and intelligent dance record",[3] while James P. Wisdom of Pitchfork wrote: "Maybe I need some coke to truly delight in the seething vacancy of 1999, but I'm pretty sure that it's clearly not happening."[4]
